Surface Preparation

The critical part in all tile installations is the preparation of the floor and wall surfaces before tiling commences.

We recommend and use tile backerboards, waterproof membranes, tanking systems and uncoupling membranes such as Ditra matting.

Most faulty tile installations are due to unsuitable wall and floor surfaces and of course inexperienced installers. It is a common assumption that all types of tile require the same surface preparation.

We use Latex levelling compounds in preparing uneven floor surfaces, set to laser level heights for accuracy or when covering electric underfloor heating cables, allowing us a perfectly flat smooth surface for the tiles to be adhered to.
